MEET SONY
Sony Group or simply Sony is a Japanese conglomerate of companies known mainly for manufacturing and trading consumer electronics. But in addition, this company also operates in the fields of semiconductors, video games, films, music, TV programs, computers and telecommunications, among others.
Sony appeared in history in 1946, shortly after the end of the Second World War. The founder, Masaru Ibuka, started the business in a small electronics store in Tokyo. The following year, he teamed up with Akio Morita. Together, they launched products such as a cassette recorder and electronics based on transistor technology.
Subsequently, the company also launched products such as radios, Walkmans , televisions, video and photo cameras, among others, which were hugely successful. Thus, Sony expanded globally, becoming a powerhouse.
In 2015, however, already operating in e-commerce, the multinational was unable to keep up with consumer behavior. In Latin America, especially, this fact was very evident. It was then that Sony's directors decided to change their e-commerce platform and chose VTEX for this. Find out more about this story below!
THE SONY PROJECT WITH VTEX TECHNOLOGIES
Using VTEX technologies, Sony management migrated 5 websites and created 2 more in 7 Latin American countries. E-commerce sites, all in the Business to Consumer (B2C) sector, took just 90 days to start operating on the internet. The idea, therefore, was to stimulate the company's growth and achieve market leadership in the region. There was no shortage of solutions for this. Keep reading!
SOLUTIONS
One of VTEX's solutions for Sony was platform stability. In effect, the Japanese multinational now has e-commerce sites capable of supporting large flows of traffic without crashes. This certainly helped generate an increase in online sales.
Furthermore, VTEX, with its flexible headless technology , enabled Sony to implement new technologies and scale its business in a more practical way. This flexibility also generated a considerable reduction in costs.
Finally, VTEX's Order Management System (OMS) simplified the operational management of Sony's e-commerce operation in Latin America. It's worth remembering that VTEX OMS is a technology that enables the development of unified commerce , thus adapting sales processes to current consumer demands.
RESULTS OF THE SONY PROJECT WITH VTEX
With VTEX technologies, Sony Latin America achieved:
- 40% increase in conversion rate;
- 60% reduction in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
As can be seen, VTEX has powerful resources, which enable large companies like Sony to develop even further on a continental and global stage. Therefore, it may be worth implementing a project with this technology.
