Hello, hello, my friends and readers of the e-Plus Agency blog! In 2023, I'm presenting a new content series to you. This time, once a month, I'll be discussing major VTEX success stories . Today, for example, I'll show you how the famous hypermarket brand Carrefour Brasil achieved a 30% increase in conversion rate after migrating to the VTEX IO platform. Stay tuned!

GET TO KNOW CARREFOUR BRAZIL

Carrefour is a traditional French brand of hypermarkets founded in 1959. It is a company that has a battalion of more than 300 thousand employees. These employees work in approximately 14 units in 40 countries, one of which is Brazil.

Carrefour Brasil, as they call it here, began operations in 1975. In its nearly 50-year history in the country, it has opened 817 stores, including 241 hypermarkets and 41 supermarkets. Today, the brand sells more than 25 million products a year in the country.

With the evolution of e-commerce in the 2000s, Carrefour Brasil even implemented an e-commerce, but deactivated it in 2012 due to a lack of strategy and results. For four years, the company was without e-commerce in Brazil.

Carrefour Brazil's re-entry into e-commerce in 2016 helped the company thrive in the online world. However, the monolithic e-commerce platform hindered growth. So, in 2019, the brand's directors decided to change platforms. This is where VTEX comes in . Keep reading!

THE CARREFOUR PROJECT + VTEX IO

The project of the directors of Carrefour Brasil is to transform the famous hypermarket brand into the main e-commerce supplier in the market sector in Brazil. To put this into practice, they came to the conclusion that a more modern e-commerce platform would be needed. Therefore, they chose to migrate from the old monolithic platform to the VTEX IO.

VTEX IO, for those who don't know yet, is a low-code platform and, therefore, allows developers to create applications by declarative means or by methods such as “point and click, drag and drop”. In this way, it makes it possible to unite pre-programmed components, in addition to pre-defined design styles, with the aim of transforming them into apps or online stores, for example, in a more practical and easier way.

Indeed, through VTEX IO, retailers like you can develop and combine own, VTEX and third-party services and applications, and in this way create customized solutions for your online commerce and unified commerce.

The migration project involved the participation of around 16 companies, as well as VTEX teams and internal departments from Carrefour Brasil itself. In addition to the migration, a process of cultural change was carried out in the company to adapt employees who were used to the old monolithic technology to the new VTEX headless technology.

In all, 7 million SKUs and 13 million customers were migrated to VTEX. Due to VTEX's scalability and master data management features, the process was a success. The migration, completed in just 5 months in 2019, allowed for the creation of a new range of solutions and experiences for consumers in the Carrefour Brasil store and marketplace. SOLUTIONS

After the migration of the Carrefour Brasil virtual store and marketplace to the VTEX IO platform, the hypermarket brand now has new and better ways to carry out online promotions.

In addition, the company can now offer omnichannel and regionalized experiences. In other words, consumers can choose to receive products purchased online at home, pick them up at the store or at a physical point of their choice, among other delivery experiences.

Another important solution implemented in the Carrefour Brasil e-commerce was SmartCheckout, a technology that allows consumers to complete purchases with just one click and without the need to enter a password. Faster checkout favors impulse purchases.

With the migration to VTEX IO, Carrefour Brasil's e-commerce also increased the payment options for online customers, now has a personalized internal search system, and expanded its after-sales tools. These and other changes and novelties accelerated the company's sales in the country.

RESULTS OF THE CARREFOUR + VTEX PROJECT

The project to migrate the Carrefour Brasil virtual store and marketplace to the VTEX IO platform yielded great results. Carrefour achieved a 168% improvement in the Net Promoter Score, revealing greater consumer satisfaction with the brand. In addition, Carrefour Brasil achieved a 30% growth in the conversion rate.

Now, the company can focus on more and more custom improvements, which can be implemented with ease through VTEX's headless technologies. With this, the trend is to grow more and more in e-commerce and affirm the brand as one of the best in the world in the market sector.
