GET TO KNOW UNILEVER

Unilever is a British multinational with a presence in over 190 countries. It came into history in 1929 after the merger of the margarine manufacturer Unie and the manufacturing company Lever Brothers.

Today, this company operates in the manufacture and trade of food products, cosmetics, refreshments, home and personal care. It has more than 400 brands, including the famous Dove, Knorr, Rexona and Omo, for example.

In 2021, Unilever in Spain began a process of digitizing its Business to Business (B2B) sector, which culminated in the launch of a marketplace. To carry out the project, the directors of the multinational chose the VTEX platform.

THE UNILEVER PROJECT WITH VTEX TECHNOLOGY

The Unilever VTEX project's main objective is to leverage the British multinational's B2B digital area and thus increase its operational efficiency. With that, a significant revenue growth is expected.

Indeed, Unilever chose VTEX to implement a B2B marketplace. With the name Compre Agora, this marketplace took advantage of a sales business model for grocery stores that already existed offline in Spain and transported it to the digital world.

Still within the scope of the project, Unilever has partnered with other industries and retailers in the field who are experiencing the same pain. The idea is to allow them to make sales through the Compra Agora marketplace, thus generating more product availability and more profit.

SOLUTIONS

VTEX's fundamental solution for Unilever is the native marketplace, which enables buyers to purchase products from multiple sellers using the same virtual cart. This marketplace technology also automatically integrates and synchronizes inventory and catalogs.

Furthermore, VTEX Marketplace features open APIs that facilitate the integration of new sellers . And VTEX has a network of over 2.500 stores in more than 20 countries that can easily become sellers on the online marketplace.

With VTEX, the Unilever marketplace allows other manufacturers to enter and sell products on the platform. In this way, these partner companies complement the offers and generate more profit for the entire chain of salespeople in the field.

RESULTS OF THE UNILEVER VTEX PROJECT

With VTEX Marketplace, Unilever adopted a collaborative commerce strategy , which increased the value of its entire ecosystem. With more active partners, the British multinational began to lead the digital transformation in its field of activity.

Recently, Unilever's Compra Agora marketplace began operating in Argentina, according to information from the NeoFeed website . Unilever also aims to expand it to Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Paraguay. In Brazil, Compra Agora intended to cover up to 50% of product categories in the sector by 2022, according to data from E-commerce Brasil . And, also according to NeoFeed, in 2021 alone, Compra Agora generated R$4 billion in sales.
