MORRISON HISTORY
The year is 2016. Three friends born in the 1990s, including Pablo Recuenco Pizarro, launched a project on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter with the goal of financing a shoe business. They quickly raised €150.000, enough to found the online store Morrison.
Based in Spain, Pizarro's e-commerce business immediately conquered its home country. In its first year alone, the partners earned €400.000 from the business. This business, incidentally, was initially intended to operate exclusively online. But the momentum was so great that they decided to open physical stores as well.
Today, in addition to e-commerce, the brand has a presence in approximately 500 points of sale throughout Europe , and owns 3 physical stores in the cities of Madrid and Seville. Furthermore, the company has also begun operating in the Business to Business (B2B) market , selling to other companies.
Around 2021, however, when Morrison was celebrating its 5th anniversary, its directors realized that the online store was experiencing constant crashes during peak traffic periods, which was certainly harming sales and scalability. Therefore, they decided to migrate to a more modern e-commerce platform . In this regard, one name was highly recommended: Shopify Plus. Keep reading to learn more!
MORRISON'S PROJECT WITH THE SHOPIFY PLUS PLATFORM
In 2021, Morrison's online store was migrated from the Prestashop platform to Shopify Plus. Among the objectives of this project were the need to reduce online store crashes; the unification of physical stores, B2B commerce, and B2C e-commerce; and the desire to scale and expand the business to other countries. Read on to find out what solutions were implemented to these problems!
SOLUTIONS
The project's main solutions were:
Migrate to the Shopify Plus platform:
Shopify Plus is a headless e-commerce platform ideal for high-volume businesses that aspire to lead the market. It features plug-and-play integrations with third-party apps, tools for enabling B2B commerce, omnichannel capabilities to unify digital and physical channels, a flash sale system to clear out unsold products, workflow automation, shipping services and product pickup points, and payment management in over 130 currencies for business expansion.
Implement Shopify POS:
Shopify POS, an omnichannel point-of-sale app , synchronizes inventory, creating an endless aisle. In effect, it allows you to manage all your physical and online stores from a single location. With wireless hardware , Shopify POS enables sales in markets, pop-up stores , megastores , and other types of establishments. It also allows sales on social media , at events, and anywhere else. With this tool, even mobile devices like tablets and smartphones can become points of sale.
Through these and other solutions, Morrison achieved excellent results in a short period of time. Keep reading to discover how much this company grew after migrating to the Shopify Plus platform!
MORRISON'S RESULTS WITH SHOPIFY PLUS
By migrating to the Shopify Plus platform, Morrison has reduced its reliance on developers to make small changes to its online store. Minor updates that previously required highly technical support are now handled by Morrison’s own team.
The new platform also helped to virtually eliminate instances where the online store was down due to crashes during peak traffic periods. And by integrating e-commerce management with physical stores, B2B, and other sales channels, the Morrison team was able to dedicate more time to scaling and expanding the brand in Europe.
In numbers, Morrison achieved results such as:
- 15% increase in conversions;
- 10% growth in sales in physical stores.
The migration to Shopify Plus took place in just 90 days. On the very first day of launching the online store on the new platform, the company achieved revenues 80% above the average it had been achieving in previous months.
In short, migrating allowed Morrison to unlock the potential of its marketing . This, in turn, increased the brand's presence in Spain and several European countries. Now, new doors are opening for the company, and its managers are reaping the rewards. Keep reading to find out how you can migrate your e-commerce too!
