Mobile commerce: you need to be present now

The company specializing in mobile application consulting, App Annie, recently published that e-commerce via mobile will exceed US$ 6 trillion annually by the year 2021.

The number represents an increase of 160% in relation to the US$ 2,3 trillion forecast for this year 2017. Obviously, to have access to this market it is necessary to be present there and advertise.

In this context, App Annie predicts that the investment in advertising on mobile apps, which this year 2017 could reach US$ 101 billion, will reach the US$ 201 billion mark in 2021.

To have a presence in the mobile environment with an online store, for example, it is necessary to have an e-commerce platform that enables the creation of mobile-first and omnichannel e-commerce businesses.

In addition to the figures on billing and advertising, the consultancy also points out that:

• People spent 1,6 trillion hours on mobile apps in 2016 and that number will rise to 3,5 trillion hours by 2021;

• Nearly all people aged 5 to 75 will have at least one mobile device (smartphone or tablet) by 2021.

It's important to remember that, for these predictions to actually come true, e-commerce via mobile devices will have to overcome some obstacles, which I discuss in the article " 3 challenges of mobile commerce ".

In any case, it's good to keep our eyes wide open on this sector and, more than that, try to enter it and grow with it from now on so that we can arrive strong in 2021 and remain among the best e-commerce markets in the world.
