Trend in both Digital Marketing and e-commerce in 2016, m-commerce or mobile commerce (selling products and services via mobile technologies) is here to stay.
In Brazil, entrepreneurs with online stores should pay even closer attention to mobile technologies. A study conducted by GlobalWebIndex between 2012 and 2015 revealed that Brazilians rank third in the world for time spent online via smartphones.
There are, however, several ways to expose an e-commerce site to users of mobile technologies, two of which I present below, check them out:
• Mobile website
O mobile site allows a user to open an online store in the browser of their smartphone in an adapted way, that is, the layout, buttons and content are compressed and redistributed in a responsive way on the small screen.
This adaptation, in turn, avoids visual confusion, facilitates usability and consumer interaction with the e-commerce website interface, and increases the chances of closing sales. However, a mobile site is nothing more than a desktop-type website adapted for small displays.
• Mobile first
Entrepreneurs who want more than the adaptation provided by the mobile site must take a step forward and implement a mobile first, which is planned and conceived with a focus on users of mobile technologies and not those of larger computers called desktops.
Furthermore, mobile-first is a technique that allows the creation of online stores entirely focused on mobile devices, which can include geolocation effects , for example. It can also employ actions based on insights into how generations behave in e-commerce, since older generations are accustomed to large computers and younger generations are born filmed by smartphones.
Nobody knows what the future will look like in the next ten years, however, it is certain that mobile technologies are increasingly present and are the means by which more and more people have accessed the internet.
Faced with this situation, the entrepreneurs of virtual stores in the contemporary world must adhere to e-commerce platforms capable of dealing with multichannels, including mobile commerce.
