The Fashion and Accessories sector ended 2016 in first place in the ranking of products purchased in national virtual stores, reveals the 35th edition of Ebit's WebShoppers report.
Below, I present the last years of participation of this sector in Brazilian e-commerce (according to the WebShoppers reports), check it out:
- 2014:
The Fashion and Accessories sector captured 17% of the e-commerce market and ended that year in the first position in sales (WebShoppers 31)
- 2015:
The category closes in first place with 14% market share, but the order volume is down 19% compared to 2014 (WebShoppers 33).
– 2016 (1st semester):
The sector gains 12% in sales (its worst performance in the last two years) and drops to third place (WebShoppers 34).
– 2016 (2st semester):
With a share of 13,6% in sales in the national e-commerce market, the category recovers and returns to the first position (WebShoppers 35).
Despite returning to the top of the national e-commerce market, the Fashion and Accessories category dropped three percentage points in number of sales on international sites. In other words, shopping in national virtual stores has become more advantageous.
The WebShoppers 35 report also shows that, in 2016, female participation in e-commerce purchases was 51,6% against 48,4% of men; and that the share of smartphones rose from 9,7% in January 2015 to 25% in January 2017.
Therefore, if you are planning to open an online fashion store , consider these numbers in order to obtain better solutions and be sure to use an omnichannel e-commerce platform.
