Nine out of ten virtual stores use the courier's delivery services, according to statistics published on the company's website. I don't know if this number is really right, but I can say that the services are efficient.
In addition to efficient delivery, the Brazilian postal service (Correios) offers several solutions that provide greater convenience to e-commerce administrators and consumers. Here are a few examples:
– Freight calculation tool that can be integrated into your online store
– Electronic Brazilian Postal Guide to validate the CEP and avoid returns
– Addressing app for easy label filling and printing
– Manager that assigns a tracking number to orders
– Dial-collection service in which the Post Office picks up the post at the company
– Scheduled Collection Service of posts in your virtual store
– Object tracking system for delivery tracking
– Reverse logistics for goods returns cases
When it comes to tools for sending products from virtual stores to e-consumers, Correios offers the following alternatives:
– SEDEX: express delivery anywhere in Brazil
– FEDEX today: same day delivery
– FEDEX 10: delivery by 10 am on the next business day
– FEDEX 12: delivery by 12 am on the next business day
– SEDEX to be collected: the sender stipulates the amount to be collected from the recipient
– E-SEDEX: ideal for delivery of products purchased in virtual stores
– PAC: economical delivery throughout Brazil
– SEDEX Mundi Merchandise: priority in term/treatment abroad
– EMS – Express merchandise: priority in treatment outside Brazil
– International Light: shipment of goods weighing up to 2 kilos abroad
– Economic merchandise: posts weighing up to 20 kilos abroad
Despite all these facilities, Correios has some restrictions for sending goods from e-commerces to their customers. For example, only individual shipments of up to 30 kilograms are allowed, state consignments of up to 50 kilograms, and grouped shipments of up to 600 kilograms are allowed. The size of the posts, in turn, cannot exceed 200 cubic centimeters.
Furthermore, the postal service does not deliver dangerous goods, drugs, weapons, ammunition, cigarettes, plants, animals, or large and heavy items in general, such as appliances and furniture. For these cases, try other delivery services.
Well, I talked about almost everything in this article, but I still haven't said how to work with Correios in e-commerce delivery. There are basically two ways to do this. The first is “no contract”, which is ideal for online stores that are just starting out and therefore still have few deliveries to make. The second is “with contract”, a model that offers different facilities such as shipping prices on average 30% lower, access to the reverse logistics service and use of e-SEDEX, which is the exclusive modality for e-commerce.
