5 skills of an e-commerce administrator

An entrepreneur is someone who creates and envisions a promising future through innovation. A manager is someone who manages and directs that creation towards that promising future. That's basically what I explain in the article " What is the difference between entrepreneurship and managing e-commerce businesses ?".

To manage the creation, the administrator must have skills such as:

– Willingness for knowledge
The market and online technologies have rapid updates that optimize e-commerce and the administrator must follow these trends, study them and be dynamic enough to apply them in their digital business in order to remain competitive.

– The ability to anticipate
While the entrepreneur aims for a better future in the long term from his innovation, the administrator anticipates the immediate future of the market and consumers, applies improvements in his virtual store more quickly than his competitors and, thus, obtains advantages.

– Organizational skill
The administrator must think strategically, which involves knowing well and improving the sectors and the value chain from the company. He needs to know how to read, interpret, correlate and contextualize performance reports in order to make better decisions.

– Aptitude for communication
On a daily basis, the e-commerce administrator deals with people of different generations, with whom he needs to communicate properly. It must manage conflicts, motivate employees, transfer knowledge and encourage cooperation with a view to exceeding goals.

– The talent to direct
The administrator must be able to direct employees and suppliers to follow the organizational culture of e-commerce outlined by the entrepreneur, which includes training them to fulfill the Mission, Vision, Values, ethics and awareness of quality. .

Like entrepreneurial skills, management skills are not genetic and can be learned through theoretical and practical training in business schools and colleges by anyone and everyone.

It is worth remembering that every e-commerce needs to have an entrepreneur capable of creating new e-products and e-services capable of changing the future for the better and, at the same time, having good administrators to manage the performance of these new e-products and e- -services on the market.
