In this article I intend to clarify one of these doubts: the difference between SEM and SEO.

– What is SEM?

SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing , which literally translates to Marketing for Search Engines. These "search engines," in turn, are websites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo Search, where billions of internet users perform billions of searches daily.

More than just a concept, SEM encompasses techniques used to promote your online store directly on search engine interfaces, such as sponsored links for e-commerce and e-commerce SEO.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the techniques of SEM. It aims to position a given webpage among the top results in search queries (related to a specific keyword ) on a search engine like Google, for example.

To improve a webpage's performance and ranking in search results, professionals in the field use resources called On-Page SEO (content production, use of internal links, etc.) and Off-Page SEO (acquisition of external links).

SEM techniques – both SEO and sponsored links – are extremely important for older online stores and especially for new ones like yours. Along with fan pages , they are the best way to attract and retain customers for your digital business.
