Michel Klein buys Via Varejo, anyway.

After a clash with Stardboard Partners and Lojas Americanas (see column in Lauro Jardim ), the Klein family became the largest shareholder of the company on Friday (14).

For those who don't remember, Via Varejo is the company that controls the Ponto Frio and Casas Bahia store chains.

In addition, it owns the Bartira brand and manages the Extra and Barateiro virtual stores.

Casas Bahia, in turn, was founded by Samuel Klein (1923-2014), Michel's father.

MICHEL KLEIN PURCHASES VIA RETAIL

Michel Klein and his family bought all the shares that Grupo Pão de Açúcar ( GPA ) held in Via Varejo at auction on the B3 stock exchange on Friday, June 14, 2019.

The operation will be settled today, Tuesday (18).

The papers were sold at R$4,90 each.

Thus, the total amount of the purchase was R$ 2,3 billion, according to the G1.

In fact, now holding 27% of the shares, Klein has become the largest individual shareholder in Via Varejo.

Thus, almost ten years after the creation of Via Varejo and the merger of Ponto Frio with Casas Bahia, this last chain of stores is once again controlled by its founding family.
