How Google Adwords works

Google Adwords is a platform for sponsored ads, which are displayed prominently (with the tag/nomenclature “ad” in orange and white colors) in the results of the Search Network (search results) and the Display Network (partner sites) Of google.

To find out the exact positions in search results where these ads are displayed, read the article " Will the 2016 Google AdWords Layout Influence Your E-commerce? ", in which I present important details on this subject.

Each sponsored ad contains a link that the advertiser can use to connect to a homepage, squeeze page , or landing page , where they can promote their brand, present information, market a product, etc.

Overall, the Google Adwords platform works like a sponsored ad auction. This tends to result in higher paying advertisers having ads positioned at the top and first page of search results and on Google's partner sites.

The size of the advertiser's budget for carrying out a sponsored links campaign it is not, however, the only thing that defines who will or will not appear in the top positions of the Search Network or the Display Network. The quality of the ad also influences, as shown in the following video:

Therefore, to create more advantageous campaigns on Google Adwords, you should:

– Insert (in the ad) the keywords that people use to reach your product;

– Discover new keyword niches (which people use to get to your product) that are not being explored by your competitors;

– Use keywords with the best cost-benefit ratio;

– Prevent the cost of the ad from exceeding your profit margin on the product you are trying to sell.

Finally, to maintain top rankings and gain more visits and sales opportunities for your online store, it's beneficial to combine a Google AdWords sponsored advertising strategy with an SEO (organic content) strategy for your e-commerce blog.
