I recently read the book " Outliers: The Story of Success, " in which British journalist and New Yorker columnist Malcolm Gladwell analyzes the reasons behind the success of some people, such as Bill Gates. Then I realized that what he says can be applied to e-commerce.
From English, the term “outlier” means something like “out of series” in Portuguese. In the context of the book, this term designates those people who move away from the average and achieve excellence within their areas of expertise.
For Gladwell, anyone who achieves extreme success is not because he was born with a natural talent for it, but because he dedicated himself to development at the right time, in the right quantity and in the right quality before he made it.

As far as development is concerned, the most interesting information in Gladwell's book is that he states that it is necessary for a person to complete at least 10 hours of dedication (practical and theoretical study) within their field in order to aim to catch the success wave.
To exemplify his thesis, the journalist mentions the story of Bill Gates that, before founding, in 1975, Microsoft (a multinational with a current market value estimated at more than 400 billion dollars) had access to a series of study opportunities in computing that most people in your country did not have. Watch:
– In 1968, as a teenager, Gates studied at an elite school, one of the few that had a computer club, in the US, where he spent hours and hours of study;
– Later, he was invited by C-Cubed's team of programmers to test programs, which the young man did in exchange for hours of study on the company's computer;
– Then the teenager Gates leaves C-Cubed and starts attending ISI. Then he starts using a computer at the University of Washington;
– Then, when he was in his last school year, the young man would start writing programs for TRW.
By the time he got to college, Gates had already completed more than 10 hours of practical and theoretical study in computing, which gave him all the clarity and vision to found Microsoft at the right time, that is, when the computer industry was ready to take the next step into the future.
Therefore, the key to making your e-commerce business a future success, that is, an outlier, is to deeply understand the sector through 10 hours of high-quality theoretical and practical immersion, just like Bill Gates did. That's the secret! And the time for e-commerce is now!
