Wake Commerce is a new e-commerce platform, which is expected to hit the market in April 2023. Together with the data-oriented Wake Experience and Marketing-oriented Squid by Wake solutions, this new e-commerce platform is part of from the Wake brand. Wake, in turn, aims to offer resources mainly for medium to large e-commerce companies.

Before addressing Wake Commerce specifically, it is important to inform that the Wake brand is a property of Locaweb Company. Locaweb is a Brazilian company founded in 1998 and operates in the field of website hosting, cloud computing and internet services. Wake, finally, was born in February 2023 from the merger of six companies acquired by Locaweb in recent years, they are:

  • All In: Relationship Marketing platform with clients such as Sephora and Magalu;
  • Squid: Influencer Marketing platform with clients such as Unilever and Samsung;
  • tray: e-commerce platform with clients such as CVC and Taurus;
  • Samurai Experts: ecosystem of apps compatible with various e-commerce platforms;
  • Synthesis: omnichannel retail solutions with clients like speedo and TVZ, for example;
  • Ideris: multichannel integrator focused mainly on integration of marketplaces.

Thus, it is obvious that of these six companies, Tray is the basis of Wake Commerce. In any case, as an arm focused on online retail, the Wake Commerce e-commerce platform will feature flexibility and robustness, which are fundamental for serving companies aspiring to market leadership.

HOW WAKE COMMERCE WAS BORN?

Wake Commerce was born shortly after the hiring of former VTEX, Stone and Linx executive, Alessando Gil, by Locaweb. Gil took over as executive of Platforms Enterprise and, in this position, began the integration of All In, Squid, Tray, Samurai, Síntese and Ideris, with a view to creating a cohesive brand to serve, above all, online retail.

As mentioned at the beginning of this post, the Wake Commerce platform aims to serve medium to large-sized companies, that is, those with a Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) of R$1,5 million to R$450 million per year, according to the EXAME portal . In fact, in this sense, Wake Commerce is already off to a good start, as it inherits some clients from its constituent companies, such as Riachuelo, Stanley, and Aramis, for example.

HOW DOES THE NEWEST E-COMMERCE PLATFORM ON THE MARKET WORK?

According to Locaweb Company, Wake Commerce is a headless platform . Therefore, it has a dynamic front-end, completely independent of the back-end, making it an omnichannel technology from the start, with modular technologies that provide greater and better scalability to projects.

Furthermore, Wake Commerce allows its clients to act as both marketplace owners and marketplace sellers . In other words, platform users can act as marketplace owners or as sellers on third-party marketplaces. Or even both.

Finally, Wake Commerce's customers can more conveniently take advantage of Wake Experience's solutions, which are focused on capturing, analyzing and using data in commerce; and also Squid by Wake, which focuses mainly on Relationship Marketing.
