React or React JS is a Javascript library with which it is possible to create the User Interface (UI), that is, the user interface, the front-end, the part of an application that is visible to the end user. It allows you to create the UI of apps and virtual stores, for example. Hence its importance in e-commerce.

The main feature of this Javascript library is that it allows the creation of interfaces through a modular architecture based on components. Thus, it is possible to use and reuse components such as buttons, banners, menus, etc., in various parts of the application.

In other words, with React JS it is possible to build an application like someone building a castle with Lego blocks. This, in turn, is a revolution when compared to the traditional development method that uses a single code for the entire application.

Just for context, this library is a Facebook creation dating from 2011. Shortly after it was opened to the public in 2013, it became popular. Since then it has been used successfully in creating different web applications.

In e-commerce, above all, the importance of React has only increased, as it makes it possible to create more interactive, agile virtual stores that provide a better experience for consumers. Read on and learn more about this library!

IMPORTANCE OF REACT IN E-COMMERCE

As said, the importance of React in e-commerce has only increased. This is due to several factors, these being, for example, the main ones:

Declarative language:

Instead of using an imperative language, React JS uses a declarative language . This way, the developer doesn't need to list all the steps of an action for it to occur. This provides more simplicity in creating online store UIs.

React's modular architecture:

In a traditional development process, a single code is used that encompasses all the components of an e-commerce. React, however, allows you to work with each component individually and use them in various parts of the store with ease.

The Virtual DOM

Changes to the DOM, the HTML structure of a page, require rereading all the code, which causes slowdowns. However, React uses the Virtual DOM, which allows re-reading only the changed part. This, in turn, provides more agility in reconciliation.

Through these and other innovations, the React library makes life easier for e-commerce developers, but not only that. It also reduces page load times, which is crucial in e-commerce to reduce shopping cart abandonment.

In addition, due to modular components, React offers greater convenience in code maintenance. It provides better rendering performance and helps improve conversions.

Remember, frameworks like the VTEX IO Store Framework and the VTEX FastStore use React. You can use them to create your virtual store and applications for your e-commerce.
