The US fund Ten Oaks Group has acquired Rakuten's e-commerce operations in Brazil . The acquisition was made in the second half of 2019, but was only announced on Friday, January 17, 2020, by the website "Valor Econômico". Therefore, Rakuten is now Gencomm.
The Gencomm brand is now incorporated into the company's websites. Therefore, the former One and Genesis platforms are now called Genone and Genstore. The logistics tool is now Genlog. And finally, the former Rakuten Shopping is now GenMarket.
Website colors have also been replaced. While the Japanese used red, which from the point of view of Color Psychology is bold and, therefore, conveys “impulse” and “boldness”; Americans prefer blue, which is considered a conservative color that conveys “security” and “stability”.
In addition, the number of employees has decreased. According to the Valor Econômico website, in October 2019 the company operated with 150 people, but now employs only 100. In other words, there was a decrease of almost 34% in the number of employees.
