TOUCH OF ELEGANCE IN FASHION VIRTUAL STORE DESIGN

Have you ever taken a peek at the websites of the biggest fashion brands in the world? They can give you some clues on how to add a touch of elegance to your own online store. I've been looking around myself and have extracted four lessons:
1 – Large images:
Fashion e-commerce sites like Prada, Channel and Burberry display large images with good definition. Many of the photos used by these brands take up most of the screen. The idea is to show the product up close to provoke the desire to buy.
The online store Gregory , produced by the agency e-Plus, follows this principle. Gregory is a women's clothing and accessories store. It sells coats, dresses, blouses, and other items, which look great in enlarged photographs.
2 - Videos:
Stores like Gucci and Prada employ muted videos to showcase their products. Another e-commerce site, which is not fashion, but also uses this feature is the watch brand Rolex.
The videos, most of the time in slow motion, expose the products on people's bodies or in their manufacturing moments. This conveys an idea of movement, of action, and therefore generates greater fixation in the minds of consumers.
3 – Caprice in the fonts:
Traditional stores basically use two types of fonts. The ones with serifs and the ones without. In Brazil, electronic commerce like Extra.com and Americanas only use the second type. But to give more elegance to the online shop windows, you can dare a little more.
Do, for example, like DIOR, which also uses cursive and display fonts, in addition to those already mentioned with and without serifs. Another important aspect is the size of the letters, which need to be larger to generate the feeling of elegance.
4 – Cleaner look:
To have an elegant fashion online store, also bet on a cleaner look. Ordinary stores tend to fill the screen with products. However, to convey more elegance and/or luxury, at least at the top of the homepage, the look needs to be more relaxed.
To create a good design using this principle, streamline your menu. If you want, use few and short words. Employ intuitive icons that guide people to other parts of the store. Take a look at the Lanvin store , for example, and get inspired!

In addition to the four lessons covered in this post, don't forget to pay attention to color. Discover your audience's favorite colors and create a design using various shades of the same color. Furthermore, follow the principles of Alignment, Balance, Contrast, Proximity, Repetition, and Proportion, among others, from Design Theory.
Finally, remember that usability is also important. Having a beautiful design is useless if your online store isn't capable of closing sales. Therefore, conduct usability tests and optimize elements such as buttons, menus, links, content, etc. At this point, a simple improvement to a single button can be the key to success.
