B2B2C is the acronym for Business to Business to Consumer, an English term that refers to companies that sell products to other companies at the same time they sell to end consumers.
In other words, B2B2C commerce encompasses two others: Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) . Therefore, this sector works with distinct target audiences. In B2B, sales occur wholesale to other companies. In contrast, in B2C, sales occur retail, from a company to the end consumer.
It is worth mentioning, B2B2C works both in the physical commerce model and in e-commerce. In any case, the crux of this type of business is that B2B sales occur simultaneously with B2C sales. Keep reading and find out how!
HOW A B2B2C E-COMMERCE WORKS
As mentioned, in B2B2C, B2B and B2C sales occur simultaneously. This is because, in this case, the retailer, wholesaler, and manufacturer operate using a dropshipping logistics model.
In e-commerce, dropshipping is an operating model with which the virtual store does not need to have an inventory to operate its activities. It uses supplier stock. That is, the store just displays the product in a window and waits for someone to make a purchase.
When, then, a customer buys a product online, the virtual store that operates in retail forwards the order to the supplier (distributor, wholesaler or manufacturer). This partner, in turn, sends the product to the customer on behalf of the e-commerce.
As can be seen, the sale is made from company to company, the B2B. But it is also carried out from a company, in this case the online store, to the final consumer, which characterizes B2C.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN B2B2C AND D2C IN E-COMMERCE
I hope the meaning of B2B2C is clear. In this model, a company sells a product to another company, which ultimately sells it to the final consumer. However, this chain of events only starts when the consumer completes a purchase in the virtual store.
D2C stands for Direct to Consumer. This term describes manufacturers selling their products directly to end consumers. In other words, this process doesn't require intermediaries such as distributors, wholesalers, or retailers.
Knowing these characteristics and differences, it is now easier for you to remake your business model or create a completely new business model, which can be a B2B, B2C, D2C or B2B2C, as you wish.
